Annual Report S D Jain Modern School, Surat 2007-08

Honourable Shri K P Singh, IRS, Chief Commissioner Income Tax, Surat, Shri Kailash Jain Chairman, Paras Educational Trust, members of the board of governors, Director-cum-Educational Advisor, Shri K Juneja, worthy guests, parents, teachers and my dear students .

It is again with pride that I stand here to present the Annual School Report for the academic year 2007-08.

ACADEMICS:

Saket Chug topped the Science stream. 10 students scored more than 85% 8 students scored distinction marks. The average distinction per student being almost 4 out of    maximum 5

In the Commerce Stream 29 students took the exams Mohit Wadhwani topped with 91.40. 23 students scored more than distinction marks. Only one student got 71% the total number of distinctions being 117 the average distinction per student being 4.03 out of maximum 5.

Holding the school banner high and living up to its motto “Excellence in Education” 90% of the students secured admission for themselves in reputed Engineering and Medical Colleges as well as CA and Management Courses.

70 students took the “All India Secondary School Certificate Examination” class X All 70 came out with flying colours with a 100% pass result Gajanand Agarwal topped with 94.60% He scored 100 out of 100 in Math and 100 out of 100 in Science 10% of the students scored above 90%. 90% of the students scored more than distinction marks. The total number of distinctions being 299 the average distinction per student being 4.5 out of maximum 5 the other student to excel was Meet Shah who scored 100 out of 100 in Math.

Three students namely Shruti Agarwal XII Commerce, Gajanand Agarwal and Meet Agarwal class X were awarded Merit Certificates by the CBSE for their outstanding performance in the board exams.

In the 10th National Science Olympiad 2007,12 students cleared the second level Exam of these 6 students namely Akansha Saini, Kisley Bhagat,Shirish Garg, Arpit Modi, Akshita Narang and Ali Abbas Manager were placed among the top 500 students in the country  besides receiving Gold Medals they were also awarded cash prizes by the National Science Olympiad Foundation.

The credit of guiding the school to achieve excellent results goes firstly to Shri K Juneja, Director-cum Educational Advisor, and it is here that I state with pride that Shri Juneja will be honoured with the “Best Educationist Award” and the ‘Ratna Educational Award” by Two different National Organization in Delhi in November 2008. Congratulations Sir!, to my ever cooperative and helpful staff who are like spokes in a wheel in the functioning of school, to parents, who spend more sleepless nights than their wards who take the board exams, and last but not the least students themselves who are constantly goaded on to do better.

Our budding artists and craftsmen did very well in a number of competitions they participated in winning the first and second prizes with Rushab Gandhi, Dishank Hundia, Kriti Agrawal, Shakshi Chindaliya, Sarthak Shah and Callista Juneja making the school proud.

Akshita Aggarwal scored 92% (the highest) at the Gayatri Manch Cultural Questionnaire. At the Aggarwal Samaj Vision 2020 Tanya Verma bagged the second prize and Ankita Saraf the third in Elocution and Essay Writing competitions respectively. Students also took part in Chinmay Trust Shloka Competition.

It is with great pride that I state that Dishank Rajesh Hundia a student of class 7 was selected for a dance competition (Little Champs)sponsored by Zee T V for a world tour. At present he is in Canada performing in Vancouver and Toronto. Our best wishes are with him. I think he deserves a round of applause.

Skating:

In skating it was once again Vishwa Jinwala, a class 3 student who did well in the District Open Speed Skating Championship where in Road Race 1 she won the Silver Medal, and in Road Race 2 a  Bronze Medal .She also won a Bronze Medal at the All Gujarat Roller Skating Championship. Well done Vishwa. Continue doing better.

In the Inter School Skating Championship the following students brought laurels to the school:

In the boys under 19 Quad category, Vaibhav Jain won the Gold

In the boys under 17 Line category, Yash Ayyar won the Gold

In the girls under 17 Quad category, Sakshi Baid won the Bronze

In the girls under 19 Quad category, Richa Narang won the Gold

In the girls under 17 Line category, Sanchi Agarwal won the Bronze                                                                                                                   

Yoga

At the State Level Yoga Championship the under mentioned students excelled:

In the Pyramid Yoga Manan Pachchigar won the Gold and Janvi Gupta, Yashvi Vanani and Madhuri Jain won Bronze Medals.

In the Artistic Yoga Competition Janvi Gupta and Yashvi Vanani won Bronze Medals

AERIBICS

Students did exceptionally well in aerobics during the year. At the 9TH ISKKA Grand Inter-school Karate and Aerobics Championship2008 the following students excelled Nandani Murarka, Vanshika Agarwal,Payal Gandhi, Mahek Agarwal,Pooja Mehta, Aayush Rungta, Tanishka Juneja and Rakhi Choudhary all winning Individual Gold Medals. Akshada Doe, Kavita Chinaiwala and Pooja Chandak won Gold Medals in the team event.27 schools participated and S D Jain School was declared the Champion.

GYMNASTICS

At the District Level Gymnastic Competition Mayank Kawdia of class 8 secured the second place and has been selected to represent the district at the State Level.

Taek Won Do

At the 18th Junior and Senior State Taek Won Do Championship Rishab Agarwal of class 8 won a Bronze Medal.

The enormous height that the school has climbed to would not have been possible without the full hearted corporation and support rendered by the chairman, members of the board, director cum educational advisor for his constant support, guidance and corporation and my staff the unsung heroes who battle hard on the battle field of life to produce good and worthy citizens.

In the end we ask for God’s blessings, courage and strength so that we (school, parents and students) as a team may lead the school to astounding heights with the passing of every year and try to accomplish our founders dreams of making S D Jain school a leading school in the country.
