Annual Day Celebrated in S.D. Jain Modern School (2006-07)

S. D. Jain Modern School – a prestigious school of Surat that imparts quality education and lays great emphasis on moral values, Indian culture, Character building & moulding students into good citizens of the nation celebrated its 6th Annual Day Programme on 17th October 2006 with great enthusiasm.         

Honourable Dr. Rameshchandra G. Kothari, Vice Chancellor VNSGU, Surat graced the function as the Chief Guest and Shri Kailash Jain, Secretary of the Paras Education Trust presided over the function. Eminent Educationist Mr. K. Juneja gave the welcome address and Principal Mr. Jay Kumar Singh presented the School Annual Report highlighting the achievements of the outstanding students.

Being highly impressed, Dr kothari whole heartedly praised the management and the Child-Centered Curriculum being practised at S. D. Jain Modern School. He stated in his speech that S. D. Jain Modern School has set an example for other educational institutions in making education Stress free and Activity-based which is an inevitable requirement for the day.

Dr. Kothari and Mr. Kailash Jain handed over the prizes to the glorious achievers of the school in academics, games and sports  and co-curricular activities. Scholarships were awarded to large number of students for their outstanding performance. Pooja Punjabi who a meritorious student of the school was declared the Best Student of the year, Ali Abbas who topped the West Zone Region with 99 marks in Social Science and six other students who top the merit (90% and above in X Boards) were awarded cheques of Rs 12,000/- as scholarship by the management. Students who scored 85-90% overall were awarded scholarships of Rs. 6000/- and first rankers from classes VI-IX were given scholarship of Rs 8280/-.

Scholarship of more than Rs One Lakh thirty five thousand was thus imparted to the meritorious students of S.D. Jain Modern School and a fee concession of more than Rs One Lakh was given to the students in need.

Pavit Singh Mathroo who stood second in Gujarat State Roller Skating Competition, Surbhi Gunecha won three silver medals in CBSE West Zone Roller Skating Competition, Sanchita Gupta won Championship Trophy and Three Gold Medals in the Gujarat State Roller Skating Competition, Baroda and Neelkanth Garg participating for Italy Invitational Competition were honoured for bringing pride to the school. 

 Inter house champion shield was awarded to the best house of the year. Shields were handed to Active students and all rounders too. Under Interhouse Academics and Activities, Subhash House won the Shield Ist Position in Academics, Tagore House for Ist position in Co-curricular Activities and Sports. The prestigious title of Cock House was awarded to the Tagore House.

The programme was inaugurated with the presentation of Instrumental Music (Orchestra) followed by a melodious Welcome Song and Stuti Vandana comprising classical dance.

The twinkling stars of S. D. Planets gave a Wake up Call and enlivened the audience through Jago Jago and Dauda Bhagasa. The child who is the pivot of the family has somewhere been lost today in the mad race of competitions and stressful timetable. The same sentiments were depicted in the dance Apni Toh Pathshala and Jine Do. Their playfulness, dream world and funtime poured out through Tarzan Jane, Akdam Bakdam and Rangila.

‘Around the World’ the central theme was woven in the multi-dimensional cultural programme that gave an entertaining ride to the audience. The spellbound spectators applauded items like Hey Ram showcasing patriotic fervor and contortions of Yoga attracted their attention. Skits like ever lovable ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘Krishna’ were savoured by everyone. The audience rocked with the authentic western dances like Salsa and Rock ’n’ Roll to which spice was added by graceful Arabian Dance-Thobenashal. The flavour of northern folk throbbed the hearts of all by the feet-tapping Bhangra of Punjab and Natti Dance of Himachal Pradesh.

Trustee, Mrs. Minu Agarwal has shared great credit for taking keen interest in overall coordination of the Annual Day Programme be it the creative performances on stage, technical presentations or costumes. She applauded the success of the school, staff and students for their undulating hard work & efforts.

The function was a kaleidoscopic presentation of the creative talents of students. A gathering of over 5000 elites of the town witnessed this spectacular event and was treated to a sumptuous dinner.

The loud applause by the audience again and again was clearly indicative of the indelible impression that the Annual Day Programme had on their minds. The stage and school decoration were indicative of the onset of Diwali Celebrations. The premises of S. D. Jain Modern School brimmed with the elites crowd of Surat.
