Report on Maths day Celebration in School
To commemorate the birthday of the Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan, National Mathematics Day is celebrated every year at S. D. Jain Modern School.
To bring out the hidden Mathematical talents of the students and to promote an active enthusiasm and interest in mathematics among the students, the school organised different activities and competitions from classes V to VIII.
- Special assembly was organised by standard V & VI students including dance, skit, highlighting the importance of maths in daily life.
- All the soft boards outside the classes were decorated on the theme National Maths Day. Topics like Great Indian Mathematicians, Maths in Daily life, Mathematical symbols and Fun with Maths were given for the same.

Inter-House G.K. Quiz Competition
“A quiz competition is not just about knowledge, its about the thirst for knowledge!”
The Inter-House General Knowledge Quiz Competition was conducted with great enthusiasm for the students of classes VII and VIII in the school auditorium. The event aimed to develop awareness, quick-thinking skills, and a spirit of healthy competition among students.
Participants from all four houses took part in the quiz, which consisted of multiple rounds covering a wide range of topics including science, sports, current affairs, history, and geography. Each round tested the students’ knowledge, presence of mind, and teamwork. The quiz format included multiple-choice questions, audio-visual rounds, and buzzer rounds, making the competition engaging and exciting.
All the teams showcased excellent coordination and confidence as they attempted challenging questions. The audience also enjoyed the event and actively participated through interactive questions between the rounds.
The Inter-House GK Quiz Competition proved to be a wonderful platform for students to enhance their general awareness and develop quick decision-making skills while fostering team spirit among house members.

Inter-House Story Telling Competition
The Inter-House Story Telling Competition for classes V and VI was conducted with great enthusiasm in the school auditorium. The event aimed to enhance students’ creativity, expression, imagination, and communication skills through the art of storytelling.
Students from all four houses participated actively, showcasing a delightful variety of stories ranging from Aesop’s fables and fantasy tales to engaging mythological narratives. Each participant narrated their story confidently with appropriate voice modulation, expressions, and gestures, which made their presentations lively and captivating.
The competition was judged on parameters such as content, clarity of speech, confidence, creativity, expression, and overall presentation. The young storytellers impressed the judges with their imaginative ideas and expressive storytelling styles.
The audience thoroughly enjoyed the event, cheering on the participants and appreciating their efforts. The competition successfully provided students with a platform to build self-confidence and enhance their speaking and presentation skills.
The event concluded with the announcement of results and appreciation for all participants. The Story Telling Competition not only encouraged linguistic and creative abilities but also nurtured the spirit of healthy competition among the houses.

Inter-House Yoga Competition
With the aim of promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and discipline among students, an Inter-House Yoga Competition was held in the school for the students of Classes V to VIII.
The participants from each house showcased a series of asanas, including Veer bhadrasan, Prasharita Padotanasana, Parivritta utkatasana namashkar and Gharudasana demonstrating excellent balance, flexibility, and coordination.
There was tough competition among all the houses, as every participant displayed remarkable dedication and teamwork.
The winners were awarded certificates along with medals and were applauded for their commendable efforts.
The Inter-House Yoga Competition not only encouraged healthy competition but also strengthened students’ understanding of mindfulness and holistic well-being.

Inter-House Cricket Tournament
The Inter-House Cricket Tournament was conducted with great excitement and sportsmanship for the students of classes V–VIII on the school playground. The event aimed to promote teamwork, discipline, physical fitness, and strategic thinking among students through one of the most loved sports — cricket.
All four houses participated enthusiastically, fielding well-prepared teams that displayed excellent batting, bowling, and fielding skills. The players exhibited remarkable dedication, coordination, and team spirit throughout the tournament. Umpires ensured fair play, and the matches were organized smoothly under the guidance of the Sports Department.
The final match was the highlight of the tournament, showcasing intense excitement as both teams competed closely for the title. Outstanding performers were appreciated for their exceptional contributions and sportsmanship.
The Inter-House Cricket Tournament not only provided a platform for students to showcase their sporting talent but also helped in building confidence, leadership, and camaraderie among them.

State-level Drawing Competition
We are proud to share that the talented students of S. D. Jain Modern School participated in the State-level Drawing Competition organized by the Ministry of Power at Gandhinagar. The competition was held group-wise, and our students delivered outstanding performances.
Group A:
A total of 7000 students from 148 schools across Gujarat participated.
From these, the best 50 entries were selected.
Nishka Chawla (VI-B) secured a place among the best entries and received a ₹2000 cash prize, a bag, a certificate, a bulb kit as a souvenir, and a T-shirt.
Group B:
This group witnessed participation from 7500 students representing 162 schools across Gujarat.
Among the top 50 entries:
Adrika Rajput (VIII-H) won the First Consolation Prize, receiving ₹7500, an additional ₹2000 cash prize, a bag, a certificate, a bulb kit, and a T-shirt.
Vidhi Tekwani (VIII-A) was selected as one of the best entries and awarded a ₹2000 cash prize, a bag, a bulb kit as a souvenir, and a T-shirt.

Inter-House Aerobics Competition
Aerobics is an interesting sport that is highly enjoyed and recommended for students to make them physically active in a playful way. Fit kids stay motivated, focused, confident and successful while learning various skills at every level.
The Inter-House Aerobics Competition was conducted with great enthusiasm for the students of classes V–VIII in the school auditorium. The event aimed to promote physical fitness, rhythm, coordination, and teamwork among students. The high energy and vibrant performances made the competition lively and captivating.
Students performed confidently to upbeat music, reflecting their dedication and rigorous practice sessions. Their coordinated movements, expressive actions, and perfect synchronization showcased their hard work and enthusiasm.

Inter-House Kho Kho Competition
The Inter-House Kho Kho Competition for students of Classes V–VIII was conducted with great enthusiasm and sportsman spirit on the school ground. All the participating houses showcased excellent teamwork, agility, and strategic skills, making the event both engaging and highly competitive.
The matches followed a knockout format, with each house fielding its best players. The energy of the participants, coupled with the loud cheers from their housemates, created an electrifying atmosphere throughout the event.

Swachh Survekshan 2025 by SMC
With the aim of promoting cleanliness among students, ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ program under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign was organized by Surat Municipal Corporation on Wednesday, 01/10/2025. 8th Heroes Taekwondo International Championship 2025

Daksh Bharwad of VIII-A, Subhash House has consistently excelled in Taekwondo. Recently, he secured the Silver medal in Kyorugi B 12-14yrs, Male C, 37-41 kg G1 and Bronze Medal in Kyorugi –PSS A 12-14yrs, Male C, 37-41 kg in the 8th Heroes Taekwondo International Championship 2025 held at Eastern National Sports Training Centre, Pattaya, Chonburi, Thailand . With excellent techniques, discipline, and sportsmanship, he emerged as a strong performer.
Tanya Shah of VI-E, Subhash House has also demonstrated outstanding talent in Taekwondo. She won the Silver medal in Kyorugi C 11-12yrs, Female D, 31-34 kg G2 and Bronze Medal in Kyorugi B 11-12yrs, Female D, 31-34 kg G1 in the same event. Her achievement has not only brought glory to the school but has also motivated other students to actively participate in martial arts.

SGFI Achievement of Janvi Patel

We are delighted to announce that Janvi Patel, a student of Class VIII- D,Tagore House has brought laurels to our school by winning the Bronze Medal at the Gujarat State Junior Athletics Meet held in Nadiad, Kheda.
Competing in the U-14 Triathlon Group B (60m Run, Long Jump, and Ball Back Throw), Janvi showcased remarkable skill and determination. With this outstanding performance, she has also qualified for the National Games.
Her dedication, perseverance, and hard work have made us all proud. We extend our best wishes to Janvi for her upcoming National-level performance.
Sanskrit Diwas Celebration
To honour and promote the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of the Sanskrit language, our school joyfully celebrated Sanskrit Diwas on 23rd August 2025. The programme was organized with the aim of creating awareness among students about the significance of Sanskrit, often regarded as the “mother of all languages.”
The celebration commenced with the melodious chanting of Sanskrit shlokas, which filled the atmosphere with serenity and devotion. This was followed by thought-provoking speeches delivered by students, highlighting the history, beauty, and relevance of Sanskrit in the present times. Students of Class VIII presented a variety of cultural performances including Sanskrit songs, shloka recitations, and a short skit, all of which were greatly appreciated.
The presentations reflected the students’ creativity, enthusiasm, and deep respect for the ancient language. Our Principal and Headmistress lauded their efforts and encouraged everyone to continue learning and preserving this invaluable treasure of India’s glorious heritage.
The celebration concluded on an inspiring note, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride in our linguistic traditions.
Interclass Rakhi Making and Card Making Competitions
To celebrate the spirit of creativity and traditional values, our school organized two engaging events—the Interclass Rakhi Making Competition for Classes V and VI, and the Interclass Card Making Competition for Classes VII and VIII during the last week of July.
Young learners displayed remarkable creativity, crafting beautiful rakhis using eco-friendly materials, beads, ribbons, colourfull woolen threads and sequins and also designed thoughtful and visually appealing cards on themes such as Friendship Day, Teachers’ Day, Birthdays, and Festivals of India..
Both competitions aimed to nurture creative expression, promote cultural awareness, and instill a sense of celebration and joy among students. The winners were awarded certificates of appreciation for their outstanding efforts.

Solo Singing Kalamahakumbh Competition
It fills us with great pride to announce that a Zonal Level Solo Singing Competition was held in Surat (Athwa Zone – 6 to 14 years category) on 2nd August, where participants from around 12 schools participated in different categories.
Two students participated from our school and both of them bagged a position.
Khanak Agarwal from VII – D (Lok Geet) secured 2nd position while Dhayaniba Parmar from VI – B (Sugam Geet) secured 3rd position in her category.
Both of them received certificate for the same.
Inter-House Role Play Competition (Classes VII & VIII)
The Inter-House Role Play Competition for Classes VII and VIII was held on 31st July 2025 with great enthusiasm and active participation from all four houses. The event aimed to encourage creativity, team spirit, and expression among students while also helping them gain confidence in public speaking and dramatization.

Guru Purnima Special Assembly

A special assembly was organized in our school on the occasion of Guru Purnima on 10th July 2025 to honour and express gratitude towards teachers — our guiding lights. The event began with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by a serene prayer. The thought for the day highlighted the importance of teachers and gurus in our lives.
A short speech in Hindi and a soulful poem was delivered, explaining the significance of Guru Purnima in Indian tradition and how it is a day dedicated to showing respect to all those who impart wisdom and knowledge.
Our Headmistress, Ms. Amita Singh addressed the gathering and reminded everyone of the invaluable contribution of teachers in shaping young minds.

With the aim of providing a platform for students to express their thoughts confidently and develop public speaking skills, an Inter-House Elocution Competition for Classes 7 and 8 was successfully conducted on 28th June 2025.
Participants spoke on a variety of thought-provoking topics with clarity, confidence, and conviction. Each speech reflected the speaker’s depth of understanding and preparation. The judges praised the students for their articulation, content, and delivery. Overall, it was an inspiring and intellectually engaging competition.
Results were :
Darshika Chabaria of VII – E, Ashoka House & Khushi Bajaj of VIII – B, Shivaji House bagged the 1st position in respective classes.
International Yoga Day
International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on June 21 to raise awareness about the significance of this ancient practice and to highlight the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits it offers. Yoga plays a vital role in calming the mind, strengthening the body, and enhancing the immune system.
To encourage awareness about the harmony between mind and body for overall well-being, S.D. Jain Modern School organized a Yoga practice session for students of Classes V to VIII within the school premises.
Inter-house Table Tennis Competition
“Learn from your defeat and you will be a winner.”
Table Tennis is a game that includes quick movements and players must have the necessary skills to be in position to make the movements. An Interhouse Table Tennis Competition was organised for the students of classes VII & VIII for both boys and girls in our school’s indoor games hall. Students from all houses participated with great enthusiasm.
The matches were exciting and showcased the players’ excellent skills and team spirit.

Inter-House English Recitation Competition (Classes 5 & 6)
“Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.”
With the aim of enhancing students’ speaking skills, boost their confidence, and instill a love for poetry, an Inter-House English Recitation Competition for Classes 5 and 6 was held on 26th & 28th June 2025 in the school premises.
Participants from all four houses enthusiastically took part and mesmerized the audience with their expressive voice modulation, clear pronunciation, and confident stage presence. The judges appreciated the efforts of all the participants and provided valuable feedback. It was indeed a delightful and enriching experience for everyone present.
Results were :
Kabir Mehta of V – A, Shivaji House & Tanisi Borah of VI – A, Shivaji House had secured the 1st position in the respective classes.
Best out of Waste Competition
The “Best Out of Waste” competition for students of Classes 5 to 8 was successfully held on 25th April 2025 within the school premises. The event aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and environmental consciousness among students by encouraging the reuse and recycling of waste materials.
Students participated with great enthusiasm, showcasing their artistic flair through a variety of creative items crafted from discarded and recyclable materials such as newspapers, plastic bottles, old CDs, broken toys, coconut shells, and cardboard. Among the most impressive creations were flower vases, wall hangings, decorative lamps, dhoop batti, and miniature models—each reflecting the students’ ability to turn everyday waste into functional and aesthetically pleasing items.
Entries were evaluated on the basis of creativity, effective use of materials, and overall presentation. The judges were highly impressed by the imagination and effort displayed by the participants.
The event not only emphasized the importance of recycling and sustainability but also boosted students’ confidence and honed their crafting skills. It served as a valuable learning experience and reinforced the idea that “Waste is not waste until it is wasted.”
